Current Projects

Currently, my research explores the biological mechanisms of mourning for dealing with grief. Since there is cultural difference for mourning after loosing a close one, I am interested to explore whether there are cultural differences by investigating mourning in people in Asian countries and western countries, along with identifying brain areas involved in mourning using functional imaging techniques such as functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). My future goal is to uncover biological evidence that mourning-like behaviors observed in non-human primates are similar, if not identical, to those of humans, by applying fNIRS recording technique in human and non-human primates.
